Who runs this site
SwipeSeal is an independent website about PCI DSS for small merchants, published by Everlight Press. To ask a question about this policy, use the contact page.
What we collect
- Vercel Web Analytics. Our host, Vercel, counts page views for us. Vercel describes this as anonymous and as working without third-party cookies: a visit is identified by a hash created from the incoming request, not tied to a person.
- Google Analytics 4. Google's tag records which pages are read and technical details your browser sends. It sets first-party cookies (named
_gaand_ga_followed by an id) to tell visitors and visits apart; Google lists their default lifetime as two years. - Hosting. Like any web host, Vercel processes the technical data needed to deliver pages and to block abusive traffic, such as IP addresses.
- Messages you send. The contact form sends the name, email address and message you enter, plus the address of the page you sent it from, as one email to the editor's mailbox through an email-forwarding service (ImprovMX). The site itself does not store them. We use them only to reply to you, and we never add you to a mailing list. Mail you send straight to our address lands in the same mailbox.
- Form safeguards. To stop automated spam, the form carries a short-lived signed code that expires after two hours, and the server briefly checks your IP address to limit repeated sends; neither is saved. When a message is sent, Google Analytics records that a form was sent, not what it said.
Card data
No page on this site asks for a card number, and you should never type one into any form or tool here. The tools work from general facts about your business, such as how you take card payments.
What we do not do
- We do not offer accounts or logins, and we take no payments on this site.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not run advertising networks on these pages.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works without them. Google offers a browser add-on that opts out of Google Analytics, and explains how it uses information from sites that use its services.
Changes
If what we collect changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. Questions go through the contact page.
